We are the creators of WANT!
We are a seed-funded mobile software startup, founded by well known technology entrepreneurs, focused on catalyzing and curating location-based, consumer generated media. We are building out our software on the iPhone, iPad and Android platforms. In addition, the product will have a significant presence as a web destination and across various social networks. Between them, our senior management has founded and run a half dozen different successful Internet ventures, and have had several hundred million dollar plus exits — including an IPO — among companies they have helmed. Our investors are themselves prominent web 2.0 angel investors, digital and corporate executives.
Wanted: Front-end Developer/Designer
We are searching for a smart, motivated front-end web developer/designer with a passion for writing clean, beautiful, dynamic, cross-browser compatible code. Fluent in Html, CSS, Javascript and Ajax,you have a love of all things web and an obsession to get things just right. This is a huge opportunity for the right person.
Wanted: Server Side Developers
Are you an expert Scala developer or a Java developer willing to embrace Scala? We are looking to add a server side developer to our team who has experience and skill in writing robust, scalable, clean code, a facility with apis and a love of social software. Mongodb or another document-based data store is a definite plus.
Wanted: iPhone Developers
We are looking to add one or more iPhone developers to our founding team. Years of experience developing iPhone applications are helpful but not required. What is required is that you are astoundingly smart, creative, prolific, and ambitious. We are biased towards candidates who are deeply familiar with, and participants in, emerging social media products, and the technology platforms and ventures that drive them. We are located in the NYC area, but we are hiring both full- and part-time developers who work remotely. We are moving at a fast pace toward a first quarter 2011 launch, so we are interested only in those who are ready to get going right away, and to work at a feverish pace, through the holidays—along with the rest of us!
Preferred
- BS or MS in Computer Science or Mathematics or related field
- 4+ years experience building web or mobile products
- Unmatched Objective-C and Cocoa experience
- Solid understanding of how memory management works on the iPhone
- Comfortable with algorithms and data structures
- Focused on performance and usability
- Comfortable in a small, intense and high-growth start-up environment
- Able to write clean, correct, scalable code quickly
Nice-to-Haves
- Strong Java experience or, better, experience and/or interest in Scala
- Comfortable with AJAX based websites, JavaScript and jQuery
- Deep awareness of Apple’s HIG (Human Interface Guidelines) for iPhone and iPad
